I think talking about "resources" is very standard for project planning. I'm a resource at my job and I have no problems with that. I think that you obviously have to be sensitive of how you use this and context. For example, I once overheard a manager say "my resources are working on it this weekend", which to me betrayed a lack of compassion and dehumanized the team.
