This really has nothing to do with tech but globalization as a whole. It's more of a matter of increasing income inequality & wealth. Wages for skilled labor has increased slightly since the 80's (doctors, lawyers, tech workers). While wages for the middle class has fallen and the market for unskilled labor been gutted.
