It would have been much sense with the newer CPU. My old Pi hiccups at very high IO over ethernet, specially when I am processing the incoming streams.

- geerlingguy 12y agoSame here; I've found the CPU to generally be the limiting factor, with IO (network or disk) only sometimes coming into play. The somewhat faster CPU could definitely help in this regard, but doesn't the network jack go through a USB 2.0 bus? If that's the case, that's probably the limiting factor.
