This article is a bit incoherent. If children of privileged intellectuals are much more likely to be academically successful, then having a purely meritocratic education system (especially at the university level) will only exacerbate the divide. I would guess that the author isn't in favor of this new aristocracy, but strengthening the heritability of this new aristocracy seems to be exactly what the author's prescription would entail. Maybe the author is assuming that all the inferiors will just die out and the planet will be left with only the children of the current privileged?
