I'm surprised that this doesn't mention Fukuyama's "end of history" idea [1].
When it looks like the world is full of liberal democracies and nations becoming liberal democracies, history feels less compelling.

- nyolfen 12y agothe state of affairs since the neoconservatives attempted to implement this philosophy through the iraq war, or the direction russia has tacked since 91 to name just two prominent examples, has made this idea kind of a joke
- mc32 12y agoAs the saying goes, even Fukuyama isn't a Fukuyamaist anymore. That's to say his views have progressed since the publication.
