> Built on Web Technology
I wish this trend would end. The few applications I tried out that advertised being built on web technologies were not very well integrated with the OS (UX wise), huge in binary size, very memory hungry and noticeably slower than native alternatives. It's not a selling point, imo.
Especially not when you consider how big a dependency webkit/gecko is and how much bugs and attack surface you're bringing in and are responsible for patching in your end product.
- WorldWideWayne 12y agoI'm so glad that I'm not the only one asking for this. I don't understand what the use-case is. Why expend all that energy to make a custom native UI platform when all you end up doing is breaking the standards for my native OS? On Windows, Internet Explorer is the only browser that just gives a simple native window. Chrome and Firefox both cause issues because of their custom drawn windows. I don't see any reason to use Vivaldi if they're going to follow the same path.
