My first response is to (politely stated) tell Google to go fly a kite. It's such an easy and important medium to use, though, that it may be impossible. It resonates with consumers brilliantly. It's sad that they have to resort to such strong-arm tactics instead of coming out with a better system that stands out from the crowd on it's own merits. It sounds like they are completely blind to the idea that someone might not be totally comfortable with their solution. While "Don't be evil" may still be in play, apparently "Don't be a @$#%@#^@&%#$%$ jackass" hasn't even crossed their minds. At this point, I hope their new system goes the way of Google Wave.
