- benofsky 17y agoAgree very much so "For Goldman employees, it is almost as if the financial crisis never happened. Only months after paying back billions of taxpayer dollars..." I don't really see the point here, I've tried reading up on wikipedia and such to see if I'm missing something but they have paid back the money (it would seem according to that quote and wikipedia). Therefore, why should people care what they do with their money now? Its their money!
- ddoubleday 17y agoThey paid back $12 billion in direct loans with the $13 billion in federal money that was funneled to them via the AIG bailout. Nice shell game.
- smanek 17y agoPeople are annoyed because Goldman (and others) were lent a lot of money (at a time when credit was in short supply) at ridiculously favorable terms that you or I couldn't hope to get. If I could borrow effectively unlimited money from the government at very low interest, I could make a killing too. AIG also funneled a huge portion of its bailout to Goldman, and that money hasn't been paid back yet (and it doesn't look like it ever will).
