I've typically done some variation of the following in order to take long road trips with my family: * Take two or so weeks of vacation. * Work remotely (hotel, friend's house, coffee shop) for a week or so. * Take another week or so vacation. * Alternate working remotely and some time off. Obviously, this requires a flexible manager, but considering mine often has a similar schedule, it's really not a problem.
