I started with QBasic too, and later on Delphi, dragging and dropping components on a window to create GUI programs. Nowadays you can get Lazarus for free. There's also NetBeans, KDevelop, Komodo, Virtual Studio Express, Xojo, and more. It depends what you want to do. And if you're on a Mac, I'd go with Xcode+Swift. Great language for beginners.
