Ask HN: Why do you believe in climate change?
I'm a martian who's just landed on Earth.
I was wondering why a lot of humans believe the Earth is getting warmer.
I would be grateful if you could tell me what evidence you have that global warming is happening and you humans are causing it?
One thing you should know about martians: we only believe in things we can verify for ourselves.
I don't have much time so please can you keep your answers reasonably short (I'm on my way to Venus and have just stopped here to refuel my flying saucer with some CO2 ... I must say, you do seem to have a lot of it!).

- A_Martian 17y agoThat article documents current human scientific opinion on climate change and does not show any evidence. We martians are not easily persuaded by arguments from authority.
- ErrantX 17y agohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change#References http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_c... yes that is a different link :)
- A_Martian 17y agoYes, it is a different link... But it just lists more detailed statements of opinion, mainly based on predictions made using computer models. I was never any good at science because I've only got two heads (most Martian scientists have at least three heads). But even two headed martians know that computer models are about as useful as catwalk models for predicting the future.
- ErrantX 17y agoIf you follow the links then there is reams and reams of historical climate data. Anything beyond that is pure opinion. Form your own. Im not sure what your trying to prove? It feels like were either doing your homework assignment or being trolled. ;)

- stonemetal 17y agoHistorically the climate has always changed it hasn't shown any evidence of stopping. As far as it being a human driven event, we have made massive changes to the environment to say that we have caused zero impact would be incredibly foolish. On the other hand the current climate change models can't predict known data (the past) so their future predictions are highly suspect as well.
