Node got forked because it got corped. When a corporation sinks their hooks into an active open source project, it's only a matter of time. Mysql, Maria, Hudson, Jenkins... same story. io.js is the way forward, and congrats to the core team.

An ironic statement given that one of the main motivations for io.js is to upgrade to the new awesome versions of V8 with all of its great new features. V8, of course, has always been "corped": it was created and is maintained almost entirely by Google.
