I think you are confusing the parsec with the astronomical unit. The astronomical unit is defined as being exactly 149,597,870,700 meters, which is roughly the distance from the Sun to the Earth. The parsec is the distance at which an astronomical unit takes less than an arcsecond (a sixtieth of an arcminute, itself a sixtieth of a degree).
In other words, a parsec is way larger than an AU. To give a sense of scale, a parsec is 3.26 light-year and Proxima Centauri is 1.3 parsec away.
