Oh, beautiful! Can it be done with hexagons and pentagons like a soccer ball? It may get more rounded, but probably harder to assemble.

- Luc 12y agoIt works rather well with triangles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dymaxion_map http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dymaxion_map
- Someone 12y agoOf course. For dramatic effect, consider a pop up shape such as http://numberloving.com/tag/dodecahedron/ http://numberloving.com/tag/dodecahedron/ (easy to make) or http://www.mathmos.net/misc/popup-icosahedron.html http://www.mathmos.net/misc/popup-icosahedron.html (tricky to make it pop up reliably)
- dubya 12y agoI keep hoping someone will use Jason Davies' D3 map stuff to project a globe on a polyhedron and then split it over multiple pages so you can make larger globes, and add tabs for gluing. See http://www.jasondavies.com/maps/airocean/ http://www.jasondavies.com/maps/airocean/
