Europe is probably the worse place for content distribution on earth due to the massive amount of localization, this means that while Universal might license the content directly in the UK it has to sell the distribution rights to 10 different companies in the mainland just to handle to localization which in many countries also includes full dubbing. Intellectual property and distribution rights tend be quite messy in the unified EU market, especially since the translations are considered as individual intellectual properties, and the dubbing considered a recorded work so you have more and more red tape and various guilds and unions for both voice actors and translators to deal with. And this really really sucks, there are like 50 VOD providers in the EU now but due to distribution rights none of them can get any good content coverage and under many cases cannot offer services across the EU.
