I've always used Lorem Ipsum; never had a problem with designers or clients, but with other developers actually. I understand that Lorem Ipsum has a letter distribution close to real text in English, and thus it is useful to judge how things will look. Other than that, couldn't you use more obviously-dummy text? Like "blah blahblah blah."? Or just "This is an example text; we hope you like how it looks."?
