Microsoft and Yahoo Confirm Search Outages
- deleted 12y ago[deleted]
- 51Cards 12y agoConsidering Firefox just switched to Yahoo search, yes this is news.
- kalleboo 12y ago> When you perform a web search from Yahoo.com, you’re redirected to search.yahoo.com, and this has only been returning a blank page So Yahoo.com runs on PHP?
- wtetzner 12y agoHow did that quote indicate anything about PHP?
- rgbrenner 12y agoNo idea what PHP has to do with that quote.. but Yahoo did use PHP: http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/1491221 http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/1491221 Of course, that was quite a while ago.. before nodejs, go, rails, etc... so no idea if that's still the case.
- icantthinkofone 12y agoAnd no one noticed.
- asyncwords 12y agoBing provides search results for Siri and powers Cortana. I'm sure somebody noticed.
- _nickwhite 12y agoI use Windows Phone, and I noticed. Voice commands (Cortana) didn't work at all, and searching via the search button didn't work either. At one point during the outage, hitting bing.com pulled up the default IIS page from Windows Server 2012R2.
- smegel 12y agoJust went to do a Yahoo search out of interest. The landing page was reasonable...but the search results page were horrible. Look like something out of the late 90s. Maybe I have come to appreciate Google's integrated search results that show snippets of News, Images and a kind of Wiki summary, all at the top in a well structured way.
- azakai 12y agoWhat did you search for? I've found bing and yahoo results fairly good, so I'm curious where they are weak.
- terrywhite 12y agoYahoo is apparently creating a new search page now that Firefox will use it as the default search engine in certain regions.
- cpeterso 12y agoYahoo's new search design will be rolled out to all users soon.
