- saosebastiao 12y agoI'm interested. I probably wont ever use Haskell again, but it would be nice to see that there is more to the community than the self-congratulatory cleverness competition that I experienced.
- stared 12y agoLikely. Ideally with code tutorials/examples rather than "me and my friends changed X to Haskell and we liked it". I mean, it's not I am anti-Haskell or something (it is clearly on my list things to learn), and I am theoretically-inclined (I did quantum physics and pure mathematics). Moreover, I am biased towards clever, succinct solutions rather that horrible code that "just works, somehow". Yet, for practical problems I do things that work, even if it is JavaScript code, which is not even close to "pure" or "nice".
- imanaccount247 12y ago"I'm not anti-Haskell, I just lie about it on the internet repeating tired old FUD that anyone who has ever tried it would instantly recognize is BS". Haskell is a general purpose language. It is used for practical problems. I don't know of a problem that is "pure" or "nice". The reason I am so harsh in response to this nonsense is because it fucked me over already. People have been repeating this crap for years, and I was one of the unfortunate people who fell for it. And then after a couple years of using scala instead because it is "practical" I realized that the "practical" stuff is impractical and the source of most of my errors and problems. So I actually tried haskell, and realized all the FUD was total nonsense and that there's nothing impractical about haskell at all. I did not like that I had wasted 2-3 years because of liars, and people who blindly repeat those lies because they like the sound of them.
