I think that Philips monitor is not yet generally available and will be twice as much as I paid! But I agree with your premise I think - 4K is so new that every monitor will soon be obsoleted, so for me it was about finding a price point that I was comfortable with even if I only got a year or two out of it. Are you using the Philips monitor? What do you think of it?

Philips said they have no plans to release the monitor in the US (where I am) so I am waiting to see if another monitor using the same panel comes out. Also, my primary computer is too old to drive 4K so I'd have to upgrade.
