So the solution to this, if you want to abort an fsck, go back in time, and pass fsck.mode=skip to the kernel parameters.

    By clicking a few links further one also finds out that systemd has ctrl-c to cancel fsck on the ToDo list.

      According to that thread, it has been on the TODO list for 3.5 years with no further signs of being implemented.
