I don't think anyone seriously thinks Facebook is an "agent for freedom".
- mkempe 12y agoThe point is that instead of countless people writing their thoughts in Facebook messages or status updates, because it feels easy and free, freedom would be better served by people owning blogs and other personal channels of expression.
- MichaelGG 12y agoIt's unlikely they'd be better served trying to learn how to host their own server and blog, deal with identity and spam issues, etc. I dislike FB, but don't kid yourself that it solves a lot of problems very well for a lot of people.
