Really, what can you do when you are erroneously (and probably maliciously) identified as the author of a looney rant and it keeps spreading on email chains?
- r00fus 12y agoWell, I tell you what I'd do - I'd create a Stephen Colbet-esque character that "adopts" the looney rant and injects some very questionable additions and subtractions from it (slowly, over time). Now the discerning reader/caller/emailer might notice nothing or might get some slight food for thought, or they might notice that I'm basically trying to destroy the meme, and in an effort to "defend the defense against the war on Christmas" might highlight how I was not Ben Stein, nor did I even support his views - hopefully this new meme would spread so the "faithful defenders" would know I was a "fraud" and to avoid citing me. Of course, all this takes time, effort and a bit of planning, but if people were emailing me all the time, I might just do it so they'd leave me alone.
