I haven't really used Apple mice enough, but, as far as laptops are concerned, I think that the multi-touch trackpad is way better than anything else I have used on laptops. So, I keep reading the same thing too, but my feeling is that people would need to know the different gestures to really appreciate it. double-finger click = right-click; double-finger is scroll (on other laptops I had a scroller on the side, but it often worked so-so); plus others to flip pages, rotate pictures, etc.
