HN Insights: Playing with Hacker News Data
- alonkad 12y agoNice post and app
- biton13 12y agoNice one... Can I try it?
- minimaxir 12y agoPlease don't use sockpuppets to comment and upvote. (which is especially a shame as I'm a fan of this topic)
- fxenik 12y agoYeap, sorry about that, a colleague from the office..
- mpakos 12y agoInteresting "toy". I would use a "better" API documentation though
- fxenik 12y agoI will probably write some better documentation if I see some interest in the API (though I understand that good documentation promotes interest). My main intention was to expose this experiment fast and build on it afterwards.
- jcr 12y agoYou're using the Hacker News Search API from Algolia (which is great), but you'll probably want to read about the main HN API: http://blog.ycombinator.com/hacker-news-api http://blog.ycombinator.com/hacker-news-api https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8422599 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8422599 https://github.com/HackerNews/API https://github.com/HackerNews/API
- minimaxir 12y agoThe official API has no option for bulk requests. Otherwise I'd be using it too. :)
- jcr 12y agoWould this help you with bulk requests? https://news.ycombinator.com/bigrss https://news.ycombinator.com/bigrss
- fxenik 12y agoI've read the post it about the new hacker news API based on firebase and was very excited about it. The main reason I did not use it was because I wanted to draft something quick (for now at least) and I ended up using a node.js module that actually wrapped around Algolia's API. The problem with the firebase API is that I would have to make lots of subsequent request to get data for each story.
