- ekianjo 12y agoI guess it's some kind of Open Source license then. Since it's on a public github repo.
- ash 12y agoNo. When you can read a book, it doesn't mean you have rights to distribute its text or create derivative work. "What happens if I don't choose a license? …Generally speaking, the absence of a license means that the default copyright laws apply. This means that you retain all rights to your source code and that nobody else may reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from your work." https://help.github.com/articles/open-source-licensing/ https://help.github.com/articles/open-source-licensing/
- ekianjo 12y agoWhat happens when you fork then? Copyright infringement?
- ash 12y agoGitHub Terms of Service apply in this case. Specifically: "We claim no intellectual property rights over the material you provide to the Service. Your profile and materials uploaded remain yours. However, by setting your pages to be viewed publicly, you agree to allow others to view your Content. By setting your repositories to be viewed publicly, you agree to allow others to view and fork your repositories." https://help.github.com/articles/github-terms-of-service/ https://help.github.com/articles/github-terms-of-service/
- ekianjo 12y agoI know and I have seen that before, but what happens when you fork copyrighted content then ?
- aragot 12y agoIt is perfectly ok to sell open-source software: http://opensource.org/faq#selling http://opensource.org/faq#selling It seems his code isn't open-source, btw, but it's a nice thing he lets us see it for audit.
- Jasber 12y agoThis is an older version of the app that's no longer being maintained. I'll be sure to update the README.
