I use the carefully/comically pronounce words trick for better spelling, it really does help.
For example, to remember the spelling of Wednesday, I have always pronounced it in my head as "Wedness day".
- swombat 17y agoHaving learned English as a second language, I actually pronounced it "Wedness day" for some time before finding out how it was supposed to be pronounced... I think. That was a while ago. Perhaps that's why many foreigners write much better English than natives: they don't get to find out the pronunciation before they see the word in writing.
