Game programming patterns
- stevejohnson 17y agoThis site is explicitly incomplete. Barely begun, in fact. However, the 'object pool' section has been filled out and has some nice diagrams and explanations. All in all, I would much rather have seen this link in 4-6 months instead of right now. I'll try to remember to resubmit it around that time.
- mcav 17y agoOn that note, it'd be nice to have an RSS feed or e-mail notification for when he gets it done.
- crucini 17y agoSo you want him to implement the Observer pattern?
- munificent 17y agoI'm the author. When I add new content, I'll make a note of it on my blog here: journal.stuffwithstuff.com. You can watch the RSS feed for that to see when new stuff is up. I'm talking to a publisher right now, so it might be a little while before the next chapter is done, but hopefully I can get things squared away soon and get back to cranking out text.
- martingordon 17y agoIt does look incomplete, but I would like to see a decent resource on game programming for the non-game developer. I consider myself a fairly competent developer but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to AI programming and game development.
- Quiark 17y agoThis is probably not going to be an introduction to game programming, I thinks it's more targeted at those who have already started. But I think there are other resources for people like you. There are questions about it on stackoverflow, for example http://stackoverflow.com/questions/174830/learning-game-programming http://stackoverflow.com/questions/174830/learning-game-prog...
- munificent 17y agoMy book aims to cover sort of the code-between-the-features. It won't teach you too much about AI, physics, etc. (there are plenty of other books for that), but I hope it will help you get those systems to hang together gracefully.
- romanm 17y agoSingelton can't be counted as design patter since dependency injection paradigm been adapted by Java community.
