It unnecessarily accused him of treason via the whole Cairncross plot, I'm sure the concept of him being a hero cruelly treated by his country later would have been enhanced by leaving out that fabrication.
- Nursie 12y agoI'm pretty sure that was a clumsy attempt to portray the bind he was in because of his homosexuality rather than accuse him of treason. He gives up the information to his MI6 contact in pretty much the next scene anyway doesn't he?
