At least it is at this point in time. German is also so close to English that I'd say it's one of the easiest switches, at least for reading/writing.

- imartin2k 12y agoBut German is highly complicated, and there is the common convention that if you do not speak perfect German, you cannot really be successful in whatever career you chose. From my observations that really is not the case in the English-speaking world (correct me if I am wrong).
- nyir 12y agoOh sorry, I meant as a native German speaker instead writing/reading in English. And agreed. At the same time, if more people were to use German and therefore also the percentage of imperfection went up, I guess that effect would then disappear in the long term.
