The reason you might see a 10x woodchopper is that you measured their productivity for an hour, and the other guy was on his lunch break for 45 minutes. Similarly, engineer productivity may be one level one week and a different level another week. What if you could measure lifetime productivity? Or over 10 year period. That'd be more insightful.
