That was a very interesting read - but is there any evidence that the cognitive deficits of middle age are due to having to perform more data processing on incoming information?
- ridgeguy 12y agoThere might be. This paper (1) indicates that the apparent decline with age exhibited on certain vocabulary processing decision speed tests is consistent with older subjects having richer data sets to evaluate, rather than a degradation of processing capacity. This result seems like a specific instance of what Stross discussed in his blog post.
