I'd hope at this point, anyone looking to get into development is grounded in the reality of the market. This isn't going to change anytime soon and it's going to play out across ALL platforms. The AppStore just gets the attention because it has the biggest "easy success" potential to a developer. A crappy app that nobody wants is a crappy app that nobody wants on any platform.
