I used Gentoo for 10 years, and I can't figure out how to get a Systemd configuration working with XFCE. Indeed, most of the existing documentation has greatly slowed me down.
- not_with_retard 12y agoThat's pretty sad, I was able to get it up-and-running on my first Gentoo installation. I guess time doesn't equate to knowledge, eh?
- frozenport 12y agoHaha, well its running but not quite right, if it saves me any face it worked out of the box in KDE!
- general_failure 12y agoFwiw, my friend runs Ubuntu for 10 years and he cannot understand gentoo for the life of him. He thinks it is absurd people want to keep recompiling stuff.
- nyir 12y agoPeople don't want to recompile stuff, they want to configure the software to their liking. Basically it's very enjoyable if you're a developer. And FWIW with Gentoo/Portage you can create and install binary packages.
