I'm in Europe, and I don't know anyone who does not believe in climate change. In fact it's not considered a faith issue at all; the scientific case is overwhelming. Maybe the sentiment is completely different in the US, because the media is so pro-business that the facts can be safely ignored.
- refurb 12y agoI would have to disagree the evidence is overwhelming. Even climate change scientists acknowledge there is a lot that can't be currently explained.[1] [1]The real holes in climate science: http://www.nature.com/news/2010/100120/full/463284a.html http://www.nature.com/news/2010/100120/full/463284a.html
- crawlsonrocks 12y agoSorry but an article by the same author two years later says it is man made http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/three-quarters-of-climate/ http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/three-quarters-of-...
- refurb 12y agoI see your article with an even newer article claiming those holes have still not been addressed.[1] http://www.nature.com/news/climate-change-the-forecast-for-2018-is-cloudy-with-record-heat-1.13344 http://www.nature.com/news/climate-change-the-forecast-for-2... Efforts to predict the near-term climate are taking off, but their record so far has been patchy.
- arebop 12y ago"Such holes do not undermine the fundamental conclusion that humans are warming the climate, which is based on the extreme rate of the twentieth-century temperature changes and the inability of climate models to simulate such warming without including the role of greenhouse-gas pollution" [ibid].
- vixen99 12y agoAnd that overwhelming evidence is? And which of the 50 odd reasons put forward, do you favour to explain the hiatus. Apparently nobody takes Feynman seriously in his unequivocal statement that if the theory does not agree with experiment, the theory is wrong.
- labster 12y agoThe problem with experimenting on the global scale is that we don't have a control to compare to, and also that we all live there.
- asgard1024 12y agoWhat hiatus? This is year is on track to become globally warmest on the record, see http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/ http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/
- anigbrowl 12y agoIt's not just business. 30-40% of Americans don't believe in evolution, if we are to believe surveys. A large chunk of the country takes the bible at face value.
