I've been there many, many times and have often wanted to live on an island with no technology too. But to offer the opposite perspective ... Yesterday I setup Docker and Fig to provide me with postgres and mysql containers so I could run the integration tests for a small sql oriented module I wrote. Other than waiting for the images to download, it was an absolute breeze. In a matter of moments and a simple config file, I get two databases at the drop of a hat, and they're not mucking with my main box at all. Sometimes, I really love software.
