This is an awesome challenge and I would love to see a list of what you would consider basic OOB functionality as provided by Drupal. If the CMS he builds in RoR in 2 days has checks for half the items on the list, his non-profit gets the $2K.
This also reminds me of the SXSW shootout this year, where none of the already built CMS's could meet the site requirements in less than 2 days, and Joomla was the only team that did it in less than 3. And that was just to construct a site with a pre-existing CMS, not build the entire CMS.
- yannis 17y agoThanks polynomial. I threw the challenge as an answer to the 'SUCKS', I found it arrogant and disrespectful and I hate arrogance. If the author takes the challenge I will provide a list of basic OOB functionality and deposit the money with whoever they consider neutral enough and will agree the adjudication. As I mentioned as a reply to the post below, I am neither a PHP or a DRUPAL evangelist, they are tools that I have used in the past and still using, although currently most of my own work is based on frameworks and they got their limits and issues. What the heck for $ 2000 to get a : RoR_CMS_FRAMEWORK = 0.5 Drupal is a good bargain! :)
- aasarava 17y agoI took an in-depth look at what Drupal provides out of the box recently. (A lot of my clients use Drupal.) Here's my writeup: http://returncontrol.com/what-does-drupal-provide-out-of-the-box http://returncontrol.com/what-does-drupal-provide-out-of-the...
