I'm not sure the bare executable is what most people consider to be Emacs (well not its users anyway!), since the large percentage of the code is emacslisp.

- RBerenguel 12y agoWith bare executable I mean just a bare, recently downloaded emacs with no additional libraries. Emacs is understood to be together with its accompanying libraries.. I think even find-file is implemented in emacs-lisp
