I hate the idea of giving these banks special treatment to keep them solvent, but if that's really necessary, fine. But there's no reason we can't lock up all the executives and fine them personally.
- javajosh 12y agoYes, this is an important point: bailouts and jail time are not mutually exclusive.
- josefresco 12y agoI agree. Now that the world's focus is on other topics, the feds should have kept a list of names and came down hard on those responsible. During the crisis prosecution would have been risky, but now that the world has moved on (slightly) I don't believe it would rock investors to see some executives go down and admit major fault.
