I think you should be a tad less obvious when using puppet accounts to upvote your own submissions
- DanBC 12y agoSome people will tweet[1] when they post something to HN. Sometimes they'll ask for upvotes and comments. I kind of feel sorry for them because apparently the software is good at spotting this behaviour and penalising the post. This submission was, as you say, really freaking obvious.
- liorkesos 12y agoSome people are also clueless (in this occasion - me) but I'm willing to learn. So asking people to up-vote in social media is a No-No?
- yzzxy 12y agoHe did the same thing on a previous post as well: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5914936 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5914936
- liorkesos 12y agoThey are not puppet accounts they are my peers and friends which I asked to upvote. All of them are real people that know mean.io and use daily or have used it in the past. I am not very HN savvy and have no idea what is the right practice to promote something I've posted and that i believe is valuable. Is there some kind of guideline?
