Since FoxPro many years ago, there is not a single acquisition by Microsoft that turned in a great product or an improvement to the end user (please, include in this scope Groove Networks, whichi was great at that time).
- tiffanyh 12y agoThere's lots of good Microsoft acquisitions since FoxPro. Like: - Visio - Bungie Software (Halo) - Groove etc... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Microsoft http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisition...
- free2rhyme214 12y agoYeah but has any of it got better? Skype, Halo, Minecraft? I think not.

Client cursor engine is the first thing that comes to mind (RDO, too, IIRC). The product itself was allowed to languish, but the good parts went into other things. But for the most part I'd say you're spot on. I can't think of anything else that ultimately went on better things under Microsoft's flag, or benefited other products with the acquired product's technology.
