I was looking for a new Linux laptop this last week and I completely agree. There are far too many choices with far too little nuances between them. I want a 15" laptop with Linux support, > 4 cores, 16 GB RAM, CD drive, no touchscreen, Thunderbolt-y video out, 2-3 USB ports, 250GB platter w/ SSD cache. Probably a few other ambient things I take for granted. I really don't want to see 6 different models all roughly the same, but slightly different.
