For whatever it's worth, we in the illumos community have been working on a complete Linux compatibility layer -- including 64-bit.[1][2] Our Linux emulation is relatively closely intertwined with some illumos abstractions like zones, but it would be great if the FreeBSD folks could make use of it -- we have a long history of technology exchange with FreeBSD, and we think it's made both systems better.
