I think its much more likely that facebook is utilizing this to better track abuse. Its not always easy to tell if a user is using tor, and a statistically higher percentage of tor users are doing things facebook doesnt like. By creating a entry point, they can more easily track and label users that even use that entry point, to better handle abuse.
