Is perl 6 now officially the Duke Nukem Forever of lightweight languages?
- fennecfoxen 12y agoCould be! I recall it being unofficially "Duke Nukem Forever" as early as 2010: http://stackoverflow.com/q/3367226/240438 http://stackoverflow.com/q/3367226/240438
- ggchappell 12y agoGetting there. DNF took 15 years. Perl 6 will surpass that if we don't get a real release in 2015. But the real champions for delayed development are LaTeX 3 at something like 20 years & counting, and the GNU Hurd at 24 years & counting.
- vezzy-fnord 12y agoThe most protracted piece of vaporware in history is actually Project Xanadu, at a whopping 54 years.
- gpvos 12y agoIs someone actually still working on that?
- vezzy-fnord 12y agoYes. In fact, OpenXanadu was unveiled this year: http://xanadu.com/xanademos/MoeJusteOrigins.html http://xanadu.com/xanademos/MoeJusteOrigins.html That said, it's mostly just a web reimplementation of the incomplete 1998 Udanax client.
