Dashes and uppercase...what terrible names. Is the windows shell case sensitive (I seem to recall it is but it may have changed)? We've been designing command line interfaces for over half a century now, this is just lazy. Shells are not magically exempt from UI best practices just because they're not graphical.
- geographomics 12y agoIt's not case sensitive in terms of execution, this is just how they are stylized: "Verb-Noun" is the standard format for PowerShell commands (or "cmdlets", to use their terminology).
- be5invis 12y agoHave you ever used Powershell? All Powershell cmdlets are named in that way, and you also can create aliases.
- jmcqk6 12y agoYou can also easily setup aliases, and there are many unixy aliases built in. For example 'ls', 'cat', other will work. I don't even know the commandlets they're aliasing.
