I think the consortium would be much better off asking Apple (and Google) to work with them on figuring out a way to automatically tie purchases from a particular store with that store's rewards program. If I don't have to think about it, I'll gladly pay for my items, opt in to rewards (maybe once per company) and let them track me at only that company in exchange for the crappy coupons. They probably don't need my entire bank information, SSN, and DL # to do that.
