I generally adore Tratt's posts and wholeheartedly agree with them but I can't do so with this one. Most computer professionals I know err on the side of automating even things that pretty obviously should not be automated. And every last one has a big bag of tricks and tools for automating things. I also can't think of any programmer I know who doesn't know at least two or three languages – and many are veritable polyglots, to the point that it can become problematic. I'm not sure who this post is talking about by it does not seem like anyone I know (who knows how to program).
