I was under the impression that the majority of products offered on Amazon is through third party sellers (who set the price) and Amazon is merely the fullfilment channel. However, I don't know the real split between the number of sold by Amazon vs. Fulfilled by Amazon products available.
- desdiv 12y agoThird-party sales is about 39% of Amazon's units sold[0]. The actual value of third-party sales is probably a more useful and informative measure, but I can't seem to find that information anywhere. All I can find is this outdated (2008) report that vaguely says it's "around 40%"[1].
