  This is just a news article, with no real details. If we investigate the relevant lit, we might see explorations and experiments regarding what levels of guidance assist children best. As for pedagogy, a good one can support children in thinking for themselves, with the support of teachers who no doubt think differently than the child. Clearly better than the craven child abuse (caning) that normal school administrators believed in.
