This sounds fascinating - I read Codd's original paper on relational algebra for my last post (http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~zives/03f/cis550/codd.pdf http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~zives/03f/cis550/codd.pdf).
... and this notation almost seems more similar to the underlying math than SQL does.
